this church is so sweet. it’s called mars hill bible church, in the grand rapids area in michigan. their pastor is rob bell, a former punk rocker, who is one of the realest people around and an awesome teacher. they meet in an old abandoned mall. whenever i think about that, i imagine the pastor climbing onto a stage in the middle of the jc penney in marion ohio, with all of the clothing racks pushed back against the walls, and a whole bunch of those short beds around the floor for people to sit on. i don’t know why i imagine it in the southland mall of all places, but i guess that’s the mall i grew up knowing and loving…and taking girls on hot dates, where we’d do three or four laps before we stopped to get a slice of pizza, lamenting the fact that there was no food court…and that the hottest date in the town of marion was four laps around the mall.
go to their music site and listen to some of their musical selsctions. what a great variety. they exemplify thinking outside the box to me. anyway, since i’m seeking direction on what God wants me to do for a job, i happened across their site and thought i’d share.
