eventful weekend

sunday morning we drove an hour to visit a church called ridgestone church. they meet in a movie theatre in canton, georgia. we took GA highway 20 across the top of atlanta and arrived just in time to hear the last two songs of their worship band’s set. i had never heard the songs before, but they were easy to sing, and the band rocked. gary lamb, the lead pastor, talked about samson and sin, and how by the time he got to delilah, he was too deep in it to get the fact that the girl was trying to kill him. everything about her was wrong for him…but there was something there that kept him tied in… earlier, the band had played the three days grace song that goes “i hate everything about you, why do i love you?” tied in pretty nicely, and it rocked pretty hard.

anyway, i got a glimpse of what church can and should be on sunday. they are so blatantly focussed on un-churched, un-convinced people, that 70% of the people attending ridgestone church weren’t going to ANY church before they started going there. that’s awesome. on the way home, gretchen and i were both really pumped up and excited about what the future holds and how God will use us in our next location! we can’t wait to do church in a new way for people who don’t or wouldn’t go to a normal, or traditional church. booyah. (yes, i just typed booyah…)

check out their website. they podcast their messages, and they are rarely reverent. very fun.

blog if you got ‘em.
