Christmas-song-a-day #11

when jars of clay first came onto the scene two years ago (i made that figure up…i was in high school i think…), they had great success with their style that didn’t sound like anybody else. now, over the past several albums, they’ve progressively sounded more and more like a band that knows what they like to listen to…and copies it. don’t get me wrong, please: i really like jars of clay. it just seems that their last couple of offerings have sounded a bit like they’re “staying current,” as opposed to innovating.

having established that much, i couldn’t decide between two songs on their new christmas album (like i mentioned, i really like jars of clay). there’s wonderful christmastime, a great cover of paul mccartney tune, as well as their rendition of love came down at christmas, a traditional irish christmas song, lyrics by christina rossetti circa 1885. so…here they both are. eat it.

wonderful christmastime – jars of clay
love came down at christmas – jars of clay

another good track is peace is here. in fact almost the whole album is good. go get it. it’s called christmas songs. later

scott, i just bought that song on i-tunes, and it's my favorite song ever. (that may be a stretch...a call back to the days when we would hang out, and one of us would say, "dude, you have to see this show...it's the most amazing thing i've ever seen..." and then the other one would say, "really? the most amazing thing you've ever seen?" then the other would say, "ok, maybe that was a stretch, but it's amazing..."

yes, i listened alone, and i laughed out loud.

I just heard an amazing christmas song. It's called "The Christmas Flip-flop" by The Dan Band. It blew my mind.
