well, there are a lot of things that i’d like to tell you all, but none of them seems substantial enough to merit an entire blog entry… so here they all are together in a nice little package…with a beautiful bow…and some shiny paper…
1. amc is awesome. i’m talking about the cable channel (american movie channel). my friend matt told me the other day that he watches it a lot, and i had to admit that i flip straight through it a lot… but over the past week, i’ve been checking it out, and they play some really good movies. it’s not just ancient/classic ones, either. if it’s good, and it’s american…and a few years old, they’ll play it. this evening i may catch the tail end of murder by numbers with sandra bullock. earlier today i watched about a half hour of jewel of the nile with michael douglas, kathleen turner and danny devito…then later throw mama from the train was playing, with billy crystal and also with danny devito. that movie is funny.
2. my daughter is hilarious. first of all, she’s walking all over the place now. but she’s funny about it. the way she stands up by sticking her butt straight into the air and then balancing her upper body upwards. and the way she sort of walks crooked, almost sideways like a crab, when she gets going really fast. kids are awesome.
3. my friend brett is one of the most generous people i know. the way god has used him to bless me and my family over and over is absolutely incredible. i’ve been lucky/blessed/fortunate enough to know several very generous people in my life, and he ranks way up at the top.
4. i’ve been talking about north point church a lot lately, because they do their environments and content and media with such excellence that anybody (regardless of spiritual standing or religious creed) could go in there and enjoy themselves…and they’re still die-hard sold out for spiritually unconvinced/disconnected people. if only every church could commit that much time, energy, and money to doing church with that kind of excellence, right? well the fact is that most churches can’t invest anywhere near the kind of money in a year that north point plops down for one month’s worth of staging materials. but that doesn’t mean that other (less filthy rich) churches can’t achieve the same (or relative) level of excellence! this has become its own entry topic. i’ll blog about it later.
5. i recently got my hands on a new album of jesus music. it’s (speaking of excellence) from a worship concert that north point put on a while ago called louder than creation. some of the tunes don’t really do it for me, but there are some really good songs that have helped me connect with god these past two weeks. check it out.

6. the housing market is absolutely crazy. i don’t get it. for six months straight we hardly got a single bite on our house listing. then, about two or three weeks ago, we started getting calls. the people who are scheduled to walk through tomorrow will be the third showing of the week. over the past twenty-or-so days, we’ve had more showings than the whole rest of the time our house has been listed. ridiculous. it’s a nice townhome in suwanee, ga. 3br, 3.5baths. i think it’s literally tied for the lowest price in the entire neighborhood. if anybody is interested, shoot me an email at [adamdeweber at gmail dot com].
7. i had a guy ready to buy my organ this week, but then we turned it on and the motor squeaked so loud you could barely hear the notes being played. we tried to oil it, but to no avail. if you know anything about organs, shoot me an email at the above address. (see 6.) also, if you want the thing and can come pick it up, it’s yours for the cost of gas to and from my house. that’s a good price.
8. i’m going out of town this weekend. it should be an eye-opening time. i’m praying for wisdom and timing and discernment. if i have any of those things, it’ll clearly be god giving them to me. i took a spiritual gifts quiz online the other day, and my lowest score was discernment…i don’t know if that means i have really bad judgement…or just that i’m so laid back that i don’t make decisions well… don’t know.
9. i got some green tea the other day at the store, because i wanted a hot drink that would be easier on my throat…i think coffee is drying me out. anyway, i’ve drunk it two days in a row, and i’ve had a stomach ache the rest of the day both times. i think i’ll stick with coffee.
10. going to clean up the house now. gotta make the potential buyers think that nobody lives here!
