well, we’ve been praying and considering and hoping and all that…for what seems like an eternity that i would find the right job and place to serve. so yesterday we accepted the position of “next generation pastor” at marion first church of the nazarene, in marion, ohio. we’ll be moving there around the middle of april (that way we hopefully don’t have to see any snow until next year…), and i’ll start working on april 14. w00t. more on the decision process later.
for the longest time, the traditional way the church thought about post-high school peeps was, “well, we don’t have anything for you, but good luck…we hope you stay a good person…and we hope you come back when you’re 35 and have kids…” that’s why the marion church has created the next generation position, to connect or re-connect with people in this demographic who have most likely already written off church as irrelevant and pointless. it’s a very hard job, so i’m totally pumped! i’ll also be leading the music on sunday mornings. prepare yourselves, because we’re gonna try to change the face and culture of marion, ohio, by introducing a whole new group of people to christ.
n.e.wayz, we’re excited, nervous, expectant, eager, etc. the whole nine yards. can’t wait. see you soon.
