sunday night after church

here goes…

1. church was very fun today. my friend joe noonen was the guest preacher, the music was loud, the spirit’s presence in the place was off the hook. i look forward to some more days like that.

2. uncle bill (he’s not really my uncle, but he’s an awesome dude.) painted my office for me. i’ll post some pictures whenever my wife gets back from indiana with the camera!

3. lunch was delicious. dave cooked us each a hamburger (which came from cows he raised right here on the farm…i think we ate bessie today…) and i could’ve eaten about four more of them it was so good…but then i broke my tooth on a crunchy french fry.

4. you read that last one right: I BROKE MY TOOTH ON A CRUNCHY FRENCH FRY!!! how freaking weak do your teeth have to be to break one on a french fry? seriously? it’s my back tooth on the bottom. there’s already a big filling in the middle of it, so the corner of the tooth just broke off. i can feel the hole in my gums there the tooth used to be…and i’m pretty sure i swallowed it. (i hope it doesn’t scratch me…) i gotta get a dentist tomorrow, because my dentist in georgia (dr. fink…he’s a stud) doesn’t make housecalls in ohio. it’s a little out of his way.

5. there is animal peace in the house at the moment because bailey (my dog) is asleep in the other room and doesn’t realize that gray (dave and nancy’s cat) is lying on the desk beside me… i sort of hope he comes in here, because it would be fun to see the show…

6. i’m ready for my girls to get back from indiana. i miss them.

7. i’ve gotten a lot of good feedback on the spirit and style and feel of the sunday morning services. that’s pretty cool. we’re getting better at the sound/mix, and i think everyone’s adjusting well to the staging and musical changes, too. but we need to work on the lighting and video presentation. the lighting in that sanctuary was designed in the 70’s, before anybody ever gave a thought to recording the services, let alone having to be able to project some images and videos on screens… the lights either completely wash out our 3-year-old projectors or they are entirely too dim to be of any use at all. there’s no happy medium. and i don’t know how to fix it. or how much it would cost.

8. here comes bailey…the cat is getting all poised…get ready…and … … … nothing. bailey walked in, looked at me, turned around and laid down…but the cat is very tense…

9. my parents spent the evening at disney land. that’s cool.

10. the fireworks just happened. lots of hissing and aggression and whatnot. now i can go to bed. thanks for reading.
