sunday night after church

hi.

it’s adam.

just thought i’d stop in and tell you some things. some randomly ordered things that i’m thinking about tonight, on the computer in dave and nancy’s office, with my feet resting on a conair electric vibrating foot massager. you may care about reading these randomly ordered thoughts, and you may not.

1. i don’t know if this foot massager really relaxes me or not. it’s sort of weird.

2. i had some mixed reviews about the music portion of the worship service this morning. an old guy told me good job, and a young girl (my age basically) apparently had trouble following. normally it’s the other way around, so that’s weird. but gretchen said it was awesome. and i like her, so what she says pulls a little extra weight.

3. i played drums for the teen praise band tonight, and a kid that plays guitar filled in on bass, and we didn’t have any “just vocalists,” because half the praise band is on vacation…and the youth “rally” was a little low in attendance this evening, too…’cause half the youth group is on vacation…except for the poor kid that had a car crash on the way to the church building tonight…he’s not on vacation, but he still missed church… so anyway, it was fun playing drums…

4. i got to hang with some amazing people this weekend. gretchen, ella, and i went to bowling green to visit matt and kelli. we ate some vegetarian quesadillas, which were surprisingly delicious, took a walking tour of bgsu, visited a very warm restroom in a very old chapel, got a raspberry slushy from dairy queen, and spent the wee hours of evening and morning chatting about all sorts of stuff. pretty good night.

5. had an interview with the district credentials board and ministerial studies board on saturday morning. those are the groups who decide whether or not to grant me a district license to do what i do for a living. i think i’ll get it.

6. going to the office early to shoot hoops in the gym. there’s a shower there, so i’ll take my change of clothes and clean up right before the work day begins. great success.

7. my wife is hott. i wrote it with two “t”s because somebody said that’s the cool way to write it. and i desperately want to be cool.

8. i saw a baby bird in the yard today. he couldn’t really fly very well, which is why he was in the yard and not the tree. bailey (the dog) was chasing him and investigating him (her? how do you tell?) extensively. the mom and dad were circling above, squawking incessantly. (“you gotta fly little one. or else that dogg will eat you.” i used two “g”s because if it made “hot” cooler, maybe it could help out the canine species a little, too.)

9. it is hott in ohio. it felt like eighty degrees this morning at 7:30. *disclaimer: i know that it’s probably hotter in georgia. if you live in georgia, please feel free to pick on how quickly i’ve forgotten the climate that put the “hott” in hotlanta.

10. i’ve had a cough for the past two weeks or so. it’s real stupid, and i’m sick of it.

11. been thinking about my friend tony and his church a lot lately. if you’re a person that prays, pray for them. they’re a great group of people who are trying to tell a great community about christ. that’s a good thing to pray for.

12. i’m praying for my friends rhett and susan this week. they have been in scotland for eight months while rhett has been studying religion in a seminary over there. this summer he’ll be the interim pastor at the church where he’s been interning. i may have a few of the details wrong, but the point is that they have a lot on their plates spiritually, emotionally, etc. i’m praying that god does some mind-blowing work in and through rhett this summer and that they will come back in october with a crazy freakish passion for helping people meet and know jesus.

13. i know that there are other things that i was going to say. i can’t remember them now, but i wanted to have a lucky number 13, so i’ll take this opportunity to tell you that i’m hosting a cookout for the 20-something age group (basically, post college, not yet 30) at my church on friday the 13th(this coming friday). but if you live in the marion area and don’t come to my church, you should still come. for more info, check out YourLuckyDay.

14. speaking of cookouts, the next day i’m hosting a get together for the college age group. for more info on that one, check out SchoolsOutForSummer.

well, this has been fun.

thanks for reading.

bye.

deWeb. Yo. Dogg. Let me tell you something. Today was so effing hott I lost fifteen pounds in water weight just walking to my car.

Also, Tony's message last week was really great. I totally took like detailed notes. Which I don't think I've ever done before. Not even in school.

Second. The Crossing was almost fun today. Though RD could have shortened his message to one sentence and had the same effect on me. And it was weird because five out of six family members were there. From my family I mean.

    Whatever.
