wednesday worship

lots of stuff going on today. first of all, if you have not made it to revival the past two evenings, you won’t want to miss tonight’s event. there will be great music and a fantastic time of teaching by tim gates. it’s going to be worth your while.

today’s musical selection is a song called sun stands still by bleach. the song seems to be about a difficult situation that the writer faced, which he parallels with the situation that joshua faced in the book of joshua, chapters 9 and 10. he had gotten himself into an impossible predicament…read the story for more details…and he needed more time in the day to resolve it, so he asked god to make the sun stand still. obviously the songwriter experienced god coming through for him in a major way, as well. here are some lyrics from the bridge:

So when I stand on Gibeon
And when the night has come
I’m not alone I see the light
Of the One, of the One I love

sun stands still holds a dear place in my heart. it was at a bleach concert, during this song (during the break that happens at about the 4:19 mark in this recording) that i had one of my first memorable overwhelmed-by-emotions-from-connecting-with-god moments. we just kept singing “hallelujah, hallelu” over and over, and i remember thinking that it could go on forever and it would never get old, because of the way god was filling my heart. so…you might not get the same thing from this recording streamed over your internet connection, but maybe you need the sun to stand still for you right now. ask god boldly for what you need. then trust him to pull you through in the way that will be most beneficial to you. enjoy.

if you liked the music from last week, swing over to itunes to support the original song artists by buying the tracks. you can do that in the window below:

this week’s set list: **edit: here’s the imix, so you can buy the songs and be ready for sunday!**
