sunday night after church (day late, dollar short)

1. good services yesterday morning.

2. i’m used to going to church where the name is short and easy to say. “the crossing,” “fusion,” “north point,” you get the point. but marion first church of the nazarene doesn’t roll off the tongue. and there’s no easy way to shorten it that will still make sense to people who don’t already know what it is. some people call it mfc or mfcn, but people who don’t really go to church don’t automatically realize what the initials stand for. and you can’t really call it “marion church” cuz there are like a bajillion churches in marion… it was the first church of the nazarene to form in marion, so that’s what it’s called. …i don’t know why i’m thinking about this… anyway, there you go.

3. practiced with the teen band last night. the drummer couldn’t be there so i filled in. until i started helping them out a few months ago, i forgot how much i miss playing the drums. it’s really fun. if anybody ever needs a drummer in a pinch, give me a shout. i’m not awesome, but i’ve gotten some of my old chops back.

4. lunch with some good friends yesterday. they have a lot of crap coming up that they have to deal with. i’m praying for you this morning.

5. we had a huge door in the middle of the stage yesterday. not that it was on the side of the stage until the message started, but in the middle of the stage, in front of the choir, in between my and my lead guitarist throughout the entire service. if we had a bigger stage, it might have worked better, but we have so much stuff on that little stage… anyway, it was worth it, cuz pastor riley used it as a powerful visual aid in his message. so *shrugging* i guess it was alright.

6. got home from practicing with the teens and played xbox…basically the rest of the night. it’s so addicting. the good thing is that i can’t afford to go out and buy new games all the time, so once i beat a game (or get bored with it, which usually happens first) i’m back to my normal self. but my friend loaned me “fight night 3,” a boxing game that gretchen once called “disgusting.” (cause when you deliver a hard punch, it goes to slow motion and you hear all the crunching and spit and blood and whatnot…it’s sort of cool.) anyway, my boxer is now at the pro level. and i’m a huge nerd.

7. breakfast was left-over rice krispy treats and coffee. (the cornerstone of any nutritional breakfast.)

8. i have missed my girls, as they’ve been away for the weekend on holiday with gretchen’s family. i eat more junk when they’re gone…it’s just silly.

9. been listening to this pretty much non-stop. my friend seth is a pretty good writer and musician. by now it’s like i’m actually sick of hearing the songs, but i keep sticking it in my cd player…what’s wrong with me?!

10. just hold the election already! ohio is so political!!! in georgia, it’s pretty clear who is usually going to win. i think that during the last big election, every county but two went to george bush. not really much of a swing state. but here in ohio, it’s CRAZY. ads and political venom and all that. i’d forgotten.

11. bob evans gift card in the mail. sweet!

uhn….that’s it. bye-bye now.
