monday morning after sunday

1. yo yo yo, big day yesterday. it’s almost 8am monday morning, and i think my “holy hangover” is kicking in full force.

2. great service in the morning. (second service was maybe a little bit smoother but first service showed a stronger response to the invitation.)

3. some technical difficulties in first service (yikes)…issues with the choir song lyrics and the software that we run and the music track…and the poor girl who was running the computer thought it was all her fault… it was a really UNsmooth start to a really GREAT time of worship.

4. aubrey, it wasn’t your fault.

5. lunch yesterday with an awesome dude. great conversation, good food.

6. by the way, lunch was at the tin duck restaurant, perhaps the best-kept secred in marion. it’s never busy when i go in there, and the food is always about a 4 out of 5. check them out. i’m sure they would like the extra business during this holiday season.

7. gretchen and i are leading a whopping three community groups starting this january! what the heck! actually i’m looking forward to it, because i have loved my experiences with small groups in the past, but g and i are going to have to get our schedules in order pronto…

8. speaking of community groups, my college group met last night and had a blast. ate cookie squares, talked about the christmas story and christmas consumerism, played rock band, drank flat mountain dew, etc. biggest turnout we’ve had so far, too. prolly because i my mass text message, i suggested that we might play rock band. i guess i’ll have to buy it :) jk. by the way, i borrowed it from my boy jordan. thanks man!

9. there is a big bowl of tortilla chips on my table, still sitting out from our gathering last night. you can tell which stuff gretchen likes these days and which foods she just can’t stand to think about (cause she’s prego). all you have to do is walk through my kitchen or dining room and look at which left-overs have been properly taken care of – i.e. saran wrap over the top, food transferred to tupperware – and which ones have been left for dead to rot in a kitchen through which she does not plan to pass until i have taken care of it – i.e. big bowl of tortilla chips, left out overnight on the dining room table. i know that i could have cleaned it up, too, but she shouldn’t have spoiled me :)

10. ella was off the heezy last night. she loved having all those people over to watch her and play with her and fuss all over her. she is now officially at the age where she not only loves attention, but she seeks it out and is good at getting it. like father, like daughter, i guess.

11. gonna have to start the muffintop challenge back up soon. i think i might feel the most overweight that i’ve ever been. i don’t know if that’s true or not cause i don’t have batteries in my scale, but it could very well be.

12. been playing raquetball with johnny and riley. two things i’ve noticed: i suck at raquetball, and they are good. also, it seems like by the time i get warmed up, they’re ready to call it a day…

13. i’m taking gretchen to indiana this friday so that she can be there for her brother’s graduation on sunday morning. (what the heck? who graduates on sunday morning?!) then ella and i are coming back to marion to have a weekend to ourselves.

14. the kids are doing their christmas musical at church this coming sunday, so i don’t have any official duties. ella and i will just sit and watch and enjoy. and then we’ll leave for indiana vacation right after.

15. it’s raining outside. yuck. rain in the summer is like a cool refreshing balm of moisture that brings life back to the hot, steamy ground. but in the winter, it’s just snow that is just not quite cold enough… yiuhch…

16. ella LOVES the rockband game we borrowed.

16. off to work. it’s monday. let’s do this thing.
