**spoiler alert: you’re about to be dumped on, so if you’re not into that, just stop reading here.
so, my real estate agent just notified me that citi crap has totally stonewalled the potential buyer of my suwanee, ga, townhome on price. (the house is up for short sale at a listing price tag of 155k, the buyer offered considerably less, and the citi crap negotiator countered with 155k. the buyer recountered with 140k and citi crap said “the offer is still to low & the file remains closed.”) apparently, their idea of negotiation is “here is the price, take it or leave it.” perhaps they went to the “brick wall school of flexibility.” or maybe the “chuck norris school of negotiation,” whose motto is “if somebody tries to reason with you, just give them a round house kick to the face.”
so i sent the following email to my agent:
Jennifer,
I don’t know what else to do. They are one of a few banks that have pushed back all foreclosures, but I don’t know for how long. I guess they’ll just keep waiting til they get the price they want, since our tax dollars are keeping them fat and happy. It’s total insanity that their idea of negotiation is “here is the price, take it or leave it,” especially in this market. My parents bought their house almost two years ago for ***’s, and they have a short sale deal pending on it for ***’s [considerably less than half the purchase price]. The only reason why there is ANY activity in the market is that all the prices have tanked. They should know that better than most people, since they’re beneficiaries of giant rewards for their incompetence. Perhaps if our buyer were willing to take out a loan from citimortgage, they’d at least be able to collect interest on the loan. Then maybe they’d deal.
I don’t know if you can tell or not, but I’m very emotionally jaded/disconnected from this whole situation. I distrust and dislike citicorp with every ounce of my being, and I feel sorry for any decent person who makes their living in one of their over-priced, under-managed offices, in any of their 536,299 locations worldwide, to at least 100 of which I’ve been transfered, both successfully and unsuccessfully. The more words I write, the more I want to call them up and spit venom through my phone at the undeserving, most-likely totally ignorant representative who would be unfortunate enough to take my call, after at least 45 minutes of hearing the same “on-hold” music and advertising loop over and over.
But i just don’t have time for that.
Sorry for yelling.
Adam
thanks for having impeccable customer service. i will never recommend anyone to you or to any of the many companies under the citi umbrella. you don’t care, because i’m just one american, without good credit or too much influence, so congrats on that. i award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
