wednesday morning mind dump

1. i haven’t blogged in a while. sorry. i’ve been busy. get off my back.

2. today was the third day in a row that i’ve gotten up extra early (by my standards) to read the bible and exercise. i feel tired, but good.

3. i destroyed my friend nick in basketball this morning. we were both sore from lifting yesterday, so his long shot was worthless, evening the playing field. don’t be too impressed, we’re both really out of shape. it wasn’t like kobe and lebron went head to head or something. …but i did win…

4. these are sitting in my office right now, waiting for an artiste to come along and make them into some sweet staging elements for encounter0409.

5. some of my ideas are stretching my know-how to its very limits, often right past it to the point where i have no idea how to do what i would like to do. is that a problem? is that a sign of total awesomeness? is that normal? does it mean that God has given me the gift of dreaming big? i think it means that i need to enlist some peeps who know how to do some cool stuff.

6. encounter0409 is not a worship concert. yes, we will play some of the sweetest worship music out there, and yes, i hope that people who already know God will worship Him that night. but encounter0409 is a fun, outside-the-box, off-the-chain event that is geared toward 18-25 year olds who don’t go to church and/or don’t know Christ. our intention is to catch them off guard with the intensity of God’s creativity, amazing love, and power to save and restore. if you know somebody who has been burnt or hurt by the church, by “christians,” etc, get them there! if you already know Jesus, or if you’re not in the right age group, that’s okay. you’re still welcome to come. ;)

7. i printed and cut a huge stack of info cards yesterday. today, pastor riley read one and immediately noticed a stupid typo that i had missed. now i have to reprint and recut. crap.

8. i went to lunch with the staff today at hoggies in columbus, and they decided to stop at cold stone creamery on the way back to the office. so i went in thinking i would just get the cheapest thing on the menu. so i ordered one scoop with just one ingredient…well, it ended up costing me almost five bucks. what a gyp. it tasted okay, but it wasn’t worth any more than two fifty. you can get a whole gallon of ice cream at kroger for that. (do i sound like a crotchety old man? to i sound like a tight-wad? good, because i am. that’s the way i like it. thanks dave ramsey.)

9. dozed off in the van on the way home. not gonna lie about it.

10. jimmy fallon joke from last night: “Bill Clinton & George W. Bush will appear together on stage for a two hour friendly debate. Each side gets to pick a topic…So the first hour will center on the international banking crisis and the second hour will be dedicated to NASCAR trivia.”

11. time for some coffee and some work, so i can say i earned my paycheck today. :)

get busy
