getting acclimated to marion

well, we’ve been running around on the farm, doing farmer-type stuff, driving to georgia and back to fetch our furniture and whatnot, throwing staff parties, etc. here’s a bunch of photos.

if you want a particular photo from the slideshow, leave me a comment and i’ll try to accommodate your request.

memorial day monday music

i always thought this song was a beautiful, tragic tribute to all those who have lost their lives in combat, although this song is specifically about vietnam. today’s selection is goodnight saigon by billy joel. don’t forget the reason why you get to take the day off and grill out and get slosh […]

wednesday worship

happy wednesday, everybody. (it seems that there are only five of you, and four out of five of you stay updated through a feed reader…see here if you wonder what in the world i’m talking about…) a new feature of wednesday worship posts will be the previous sunday’s set list. on sunday, […]

wednesday worship

this is a special gift to my peeps. they played this song at buckhead church on easter, and it was an unbelievable experience. the guy who wrote it is called john mark mcmillan. he’s got a raw beauty in his music that is really warm, and he’s a rockstar of a lyricist. […]

shadow proves the sunshine

a good friend of mine is experiencing his own personal hell right now. his wife is in the hospital, after suffering from what they think was multiple strokes. a few of us went to visit the two of them at riverside hospital in columbus this afternoon, and it’s hard to describe the feelings […]

hug a tree

today is earth day. refill that water bottle instead of throwing it out and opening a new one. turn off that light as you exit the room. shut off that water while you brush your teeth. turn down that thermostat a couple degrees.
earth day is a day when people all over […]

how to feel miserable as an artist

i got this from my friend brad, who got it from bendpress.com. it’s written to artists, but most of the ideas apply to just about any creative/leadership role. (another possible title: “what not to do. underline all that apply.”)
1. constantly compare yourself to other artists.
2. talk to your family about what […]
